eWrestling is a game developed sometime during the late 80s, even back before the creation of the internet. It's known that it was made popular on the prodigy networks, and may have even been invented via pencil and paper even before then, though it's more likely that if this was the case, the roleplays would have been performed rather than simply written.
Overview
The object of the game is to win matches, titles and create storylines. Basically, to become famous as your wrestler. This is done through the writing of roleplays or RPs. The roleplay can be as basic as a script-style writing, depicting your wrestler's entrance in front of a crowd and his trash-talk promo where he insults his opponent and explains how he will win. That's a good starting point for the new eWrestler. As you progress, you will learn new ways to write roleplays by seeing how others do it. But you have to start somewhere, why not here?
Getting Started
The first thing you will want to do is imagine who your wrestler is. What's his name? What does he look like? What's his personality? Most eFederations today use celebrity pictures as picture bases for the wrestlers. Example: Your wrestler could look like The Rock, John Cena or Tom Cruise. There are some eFederations (or eFeds) that use a program called Poser to create 3d pictures of the wrestlers. But finding a place like this is rare, and finding a quality Poser artist is even rarer. The next thing you'll want to do is find out just where you want to have your wrestler. What eFed will he wrestle in? If you look at the top of this page, you will find a few links to top notch eFeds that we personally host. Elsewhere, you can find other eFeds, but this is a good place to start because of our friendly atmosphere. Once you decide on an eFed to join, simply submit an application with them or find the "Join" link.
The Structure of an eFed>
Typically, eFeds are ran by one or sometimes more fed-heads. Usually, a single person (the president) and a few staff members that generally help write shows and moderate the forums. Who else is in an eFed? The wrestlers, of course. Usually, a single person manages only a single eWrestler. But, sometimes as people become more experienced they choose to handle two or three, typically teaming them together.
Your eFed's Website
You'll notice a few links. There should be a roster and staff page where you can see what other wrestlers are in the fed. You'll also notice that they have a forum with at least two areas for posting. OOC and RP. OOC means Out of Character, and that board is strictly for chatting outside the bounds of your character. Talk about whatever you want there, but don't cause trouble or you could meet the boot of the president very fast. The RP Board is where you will post your roleplays/wrestling interviews. Have a look around. See what it's like, and get a feel for the atmosphere of the fed you're about to join. Elsewhere on the website, you will find an area with shows. Typically, most eFeds have one show a week while others choose to have more. They also have a single pay-per view, usually once a month. Contrary to the name, you don't "pay" for a pay-per-view. It's just a catchy way of saying that it's the big super-show of the month, like one your favorite wrestling promotion has. If you look at these shows, either the weekly ones or the pay-per-views, you'll notice that they will have a Card and Results. The card is the lineup for the show. Who's fighting who. The results are where you find out who won. The winners are decided by the eFed's owner, based on who wrote the better roleplay/interview. Different feds have different guidelines for how they judge roleplays, so you should check with them. Also, be sure to check out that fed's Rules page so you don't go insinuating that you slept with the owner's wife and find yourself being kicked out without knowing what you did wrong. There may be other features on an eFed's page, but these are the basics that you will find everywhere.
That's the basics on the game of eWrestling. Have a look around the site. Be sure to check out the feds listed at the top, and if we have any regional feds by the time you read this, be sure to look into them as well. They may have easier standards for being accepted also, so if you have trouble getting accepted into one of the top feds because of your n00bness, check them out and start there. Most of all, have fun. This is a great game to play.
